Up coming appearances and additions

Monday, March 29, 2010

As the door grows the experience grows with it. At the upcoming second saturday i will be recording a few peoples comments candidly to use in the time lapse video to ad a little more. To allow the door to expand its impact on the community and the overall experience. i would still like to hear from the visitors of the door what they feel when they participate in this experience. Feel free to shoot me a comment or email.

The door will be out April 10th on J st.

Calling all visitors.

Saturday, March 20, 2010

I would love to hear from you. if you have signed the door i would love to know what you think about being part of this growing community project. with you you the visitors of the door it would not be what it is today. all i ask is either a comment or a email with a few words explaining how you feel. if you wish to remain anonymous that is fine too. if there is something you would like to see different with the door i would love to hear that as well again this is a community project and its all about you the visitors.
Here is a comment on yelp about the door just to give you an idea.

"Want to see what Sacramento looks like, all in about two minutes? Want to get a glimpse of our city's diversity, humanity, curiosity and extrovertedness ... all while peering into a few unknowing and sometimes familiar eyes?
I'm not kidding, you will be moved. Well, of course you will be moved, it's the traveling door done by Tower Photography. "

Voyage number 3

We finally posted the time lapse from the third voyage of the traveling door. it took us a little longer this time because we wanted a piece of music that sort of expressed the ebb and flow of the visitors of the door. you see the visitors all at once when in reality it could be half hour before the next visitor come by and signs the door. so here it is please enjoy.

Three Voyages down.

Sunday, March 14, 2010

So i would like to start off by thanking those of you who took the time to stop and sign the door. It started out as a simple idea rig a camera up to the door as a peep hole and ask people to sign the door. Since then it has grown and evolved. if you look at the first time laps of the maiden voyage you can see a little hesitation in a few of the participants. the second appearance of the door at Cosumnes River College you can see that people really got in to it because there was a little more steam behind it people were talking. We are currently working on the third time lapse but i can already see that i got more a a response out of the people than the previous two signings. I hope as this journey the door takes me on it will become something great and it can't happen with out all of you who give me ten seconds of your time. Again I wish to thank you all for your help.

Here are a few snap shots of the door and some of the cool signatures and quotes on the door.

The Maiden Voyage of THE TRAVELING DOOR

Yesterday February 13th marked the beginning of what i hope will be a fun and rewarding photo blog. I show my photography at the Sacramento Second Saturdays so i thought it would be a great place to test out my idea of the traveling door. The idea for the door came when i was testing out my new lens baby fisheye lens. i snapped a quick shot out my front door and quickly realized that it looked as if i was looking through a peep hole. Then and there i came up with the idea for a photo blog where i rig a door with a camera to take photos of people as the come to the door but i need a way to attract people to the door so i asked them to sign the door. As those who chose to sign the door were writing away i would candidly take their photos. i quickly realized thats i was gonna have more photos of people that i knew what to do with. what better way to show the 600 plus photos than in a time laps. My buddy and i quickly through the time laps together. the only thing lacking what some sound. a few weeks prior we had laid down a track as we played with some new recording software and we played the song as we watched the time laps. We both looked at each other in awe as we noticed how well the video and the sound matched up. so with out any further hesitation here is the maiden voyage of The Traveling door.
